Frequently Asked Questions about FOIL DRIVE
Everything you need to know before buying
What is the difference between Foil Drive and the Duotone Foil Assist?
Foil Drive: motor attached directly to the foil mast, up to 27.5 kg of thrust. The board remains light, power delivery is direct. Duotone Foil Assist: waist-mounted motor via eHarness, battery worn on the body. More discreet, more universal (no mast mounting). Foil Drive is more powerful and more versatile in terms of disciplines (surf, wing, downwind, wake).
What is the difference between the Foil Drive Assist MAX and the Assist Slim?
Assist MAX: the main kit, maximum power (27.5 kg of thrust), bulky batteries (332-498 Wh), for all foil styles and rider sizes. Assist Slim: compact and lightweight version, more discreet profile on the mast, 166 Wh battery. Ideal for lighter riders, dynamic spots, or those who want a minimalist setup.
Is Foil Drive compatible with my foil?
Yes, in most cases. Foil Drive offers universal adaptors as well as integrated masts in collaboration with F-ONE and AXIS. Compatible with Armstrong, Sabfoil, Slingshot, North and other brands. Check your mast's compatibility before buying. Contact us if needed.
Can you take a Foil Drive on a plane?
Not with standard batteries. The MAX Sport (332 Wh) and MAX Power (498 Wh) batteries exceed the IATA limit of 160 Wh, so they are not accepted on planes. Foil Drive offers the MAX Travel Battery (350 Wh) specifically designed for air travel: it disassembles into 3 sections, each less than 160 Wh. They must be carried in your hand luggage. Always check your airline's rules before travelling.
What is the battery life of a Foil Drive?
Between 30 and 60 minutes depending on the type of use (occasional assist for take-off vs continuous assist), your weight, and conditions. With the MAX Sport battery (332 Wh), expect ~35-40 min, with the MAX Power (498 Wh) up to ~60 min. The battery life increases significantly if you cut the motor as soon as you are on foil.
How does the FOIL DRIVE warranty work?
2-year legal warranty on all products. As an authorised dealer, GlissEvolution manages after-sales support directly. No need to send to Australia.
