Wing Leash: Safety First
The leash is the number one safety accessory in wingfoil. There are two essential types:
- Wing leash (wrist): connects the wing to your wrist. Essential to prevent the wing from flying away after a wipeout. Choose a coiled model to avoid dragging in the water, or straight for more freedom. Recommended size: 4" (M) for wings <5m², 5" (L) for wings ≥5m².
- Board leash (waist): worn at the waist rather than the ankle. Prevents feet entanglement and offers more freedom of movement. The leash does not touch the water and does not interfere with pumping.
💡 Tip: choose a swivel to avoid the leash tangling during transitions and manoeuvres.
Harness & Harness Line for Wing
The wingfoil harness is not mandatory, but it significantly relieves your arms on long legs and improves upwind performance. Compared with kitesurfing, the loads are lower. Wing harnesses are therefore lighter and more discreet.
